Greek Vase Scratchboard

Sixth Grade is learning about Greek Myths in school. We made our own vases with oil pastel and black tempera paint.

Before we drew onto the scratchboard, we made a drawing pattern out of construction paper .  Each student chose a Greek myth creature or person from Greek life to portray on their vase.

We transferred the drawing with the graphite pencil method .

The students really enjoyed seeing the bright orange come through the black paint as they scratched thin and thick lines.

See if you can guess the Greek characters.

We have them all hanging up outside the art room on a bulletin  board for conference week.
