Watercolor owl paintings

We were reviewing watercolor techniques and learning some new ones. The Eighth grade started by putting in their wash background. Then they used various texture techniques for the owl itself.
If you look closely in the background above the boys' heads you can see Corbin, the owl, our model.

Dramatic like an El Greco

The Adoration of the Shepherds
Today in 6th grade we learned about the Dramatic Paintings of El Greco. We took turns acting one out ourselves while the other students sketched the characters in their pose.

Earth Day Reusable Duct Tape Bags

Today we made tote bags using duct tape and an old T shirt. Grades 6 through 8 made these today. They came out really cool the ones with colored duct tape.

Monochromatic Portraits






Sixth grade is learning about value and shadows from Rembrandt's paintings. They traced a digital photo of themselves and painted the lights and darks from one color. They also learned how to mix colors.

8th Grade Art Field Trip





Today we took our annual field trip to Casa Bonita combined with a visit to the Museo De Los Americas. We learned how to make a vejigante mask from Puerto Rico.

Illustrated Proverbs



The sixth grade each chose a different Proverb and illustrated with colored pencil. We studied proportion of the human figure before we started this project.
