Field Trip to Take Photos

The Eighth Grade went to Obrien Park during class to start their photo assignments. We took such shots as abstract, texture, landscape, nature study, and others. Here Kendall tries for an atypical view.

These were all done from photos of national parks Ansel Adams shot.

Moonrise , Hernandez

The Eighth Grade Elective learned about Ansel Adams and the types of photos he created of the national parks. Then they each chose a photograph to illustrate with charcoal, blending stumps and kneaded erasers to capture the many values in his photography.

Eighth Grade - Batik like resist with Ink and watercolor

This Project was hard to conceptualize until we were mostly finished. First step was to paint everything with white tempera paint except the areas to be black. Then we painted the whole painting with black ink and washed it off in the sink. The resisted areas stayed white so we could add pigment with watercolor.

6th Grade Oil Pastel Still Life with Design

The sixth grade is learning to realistically draw a still life of flowers in Oil Pastel. Then they make up a design or pattern for the background and use bright colors. They look like they were painted! We also learned some new oil pastel techniques like blending, scumbling and outlining. This project will be used for our square art fundraiser this year.
