Calendar Contest Douglas County Middle school

In sixth grade we are working on illustrations for a calendar contest that depicts some type of anti-violence theme. Here are some finished entries. Winner gets a laptop or ipod touch.

Soft Pastel grid painting

We learned how to use soft pastels in 6th grade practicing on a Georgia O'keefe flower. Next each student was given a piece of this Chagall painting to recreate in the colors and shading.
Here is the bulletin board outside the art room with the finished collaborative painting. The names are marked for each square to note the artist.

Linoleum Print Carvings-6th Grade

Sixth grade learned about creating texture in animal carvings before they tried printing them.

We used several thicknesses of linoleum carving tools to get the different lines. This was their first time carving and most really enjoyed this new type of art. Each student numbered and signed each print.
