Finger Painting for Impressionism

Seventh Grade painted water lilies similar to Claude Monet using their fingers and a pallette knife. They came out so well. The first day we built up the underlayer. Next we added layers to look like impressionistic strokes.

Painting Like Pollock

My Eighth Grade Elective class is learning about Abstract Expressionism. One of the most famous artist of that time is Jackson Pollock. We got to experience his technique of splatter painting on the floor. We saw some video of the artist performing and tried it ourselves. Come see our finished works hanging in the middle school hall.

Carving Linoleum Prints in 6th Grade

We just finished printing our linoleum plates .We carved different animals with texture. Each student chose an animal and designed a composition to take up the whole linoleum. Then they included their initials somewhere on the print like Albrecht Durer did on his.

They did a great job carving deep enough so the design printed. We will enter each student's print in the Blick Linoleum Print contest next month.

Making Abstract out of a Still Life

The Eighth Grade elective class took a still life and painted it in an abstract fashion. Each piece of art was different than the other. We used Oil Pastels.

Here is the still life we started with.

Andy Warhol Pop Art Portraits

We practiced our self portrait proportions in Eighth Grade before starting our collage of Pop Art Style. We traced our drawing on clear transparencies with sharpie. Then we used Andy Warhol portraits as our inspiration to add color with paper- cutting or tearing to fill in the background.
