Oil Pastel Closeups- Georgie O'Keefe

These paintings by Georgia O'Keefe were our inspiration.

The sixth Grade practiced some Oil Pastel techniques to make our square one art projects.  We looked at flowers painted by Georgia O'Keefe and used viewfinders to limit the area to draw using photographs of flowers.

Each student wrote a poem about their interpretation of the artwork. Some looked like flowers but others were more abstract.

Lovely work! Sometimes it's difficult to move away from the realistic... your kids have done a great job!!

I am still teaching k-12 this year, and I do have pictures of the flowers, I just haven't posted them yet. Soon! :)
