Musical Instruments in Paper Sculpture 7/8 grade

This was a popular project with all my students in the middle school elective.

First we practiced different shapes we can make with paper cardstock. Tubes , cylinders, square shapes, and folded paper were some of the possibilities. Next each student chose an instrument and drew in their sketchbook.

The students were very imaginative with the instruments they chose. This one was very challenging.

Only paper and white glue were allowed on this project. A hair dryer helped with the drying time.

After the sculpture was built the acrylic paint was added for realistic color.

A Banjo

Lastly, the students had to learn how to use the needle and thread for their stringed instruments.
