Mrs. Ackerman

Welcome to the P.C.K. Artroom. This is my 12th year teaching art at Core Knowledge. This year I will also be teaching 4th, 6th, and 7/8 grade. I grew up in New Jersey on the Beach. I lived near Washington DC for 8 years and enjoyed all the arts and culture in the big City. Now my favorite place to be is Colorado where I have lived for the past 20 years. I am a big outdoor lover of snowshoeing, hiking, rafting and canyoneering. I enjoy creating art of many types, lately my favorite is collage and abstract acrylic art. I will be bringing some of my work to share. I really enjoy teaching art.

Our Art classes at Core are divided by two teachers. Mrs Vinski teaches the younger grades and I teach 4th, 6th through 8th. 7th and 8th grade Electives are held in the Middle school Room upstairs. There is great light and beautiful views to inspire art.

We do many different mediums of art from painting in tempera, acrylic and pastels. Sculpture, clay, printing and carving are a few of them.

We will be having parents volunteering in our fourth and sixth grade classroom. Your student will be bringing home a behavior contract for you to sign and a space to indicate if you would like to come in. It is such a help to hand out and collect supplies (we use a lot) so I can concentrate on teaching and giving the students all my attention and help.

Here are the latest projects and news of my artroom classes. This includes Fourth and Sixth grade and Seventh/Eighth grade Electives. You can leave a comment if you want.

Daily warm-ups and personal sketchbook will be done to help you brainstorm ideas and solidify concepts.
