Palette Painting in the Impressionist Style

The seventh grade is learning about Impressionism. We talked about Impasto painting and Juxtaposition (side by side). We used acrylic paint and gel medium to get thick paint to layer on the texture in our landscape. First we did an underpainting of the color areas we were going to paint with the palettes.

We used our palettes in different ways to get thin or thick lines.

Layers were used for things farther away and the flowers were last to go on the green landscapes.

Oil Pastel Still Life with Patterns- 6th grade

We are completing our square one art project using oil Pastels. The students observed several different flowers and chose one to draw in a vase of their choice. They were to design patterns on the vase and backgrounds of their paintings. The oil pastels created bright colors with lots of different designs from their own imaginations. You can see our works of art hanging over the lockers in the middle school area.
