7/8 GRADE Impressionism Painting with our fingers

We are learning about four Impressionism Artists: Cassatt, Monet, Degas, and Renoir. We learned how to recognize the paintings and subjects each artist is known for.

For our project each student chose subject matter of a landscape or flowers to create in the impressionistic style.

We used our fingers with short strokes like the artists did. Some used a palette knife as well but no brushes.

Lily Pads were a favorite subject of Claude Monet- the father of Impressionism.

Before we began painting, we taped off our paper on a board to make a white frame when finished.
The first step was to paint in the background.

One vocabulary word was juxtaposition- the colors are displayed side by side.

These were the best finished pieces I have displayed.
